Instructions: Read about leisure. Look at the underlined word.
Free time is time spent away from business, work, job hunting, domestic chores and education. It also excludes time spent on necessary activities such as eating and sleeping. From a research perspective, this approach has the advantages of being quantifiable and comparable over time and place. Leisure as experience usually emphasizes dimensions of perceived freedom and choice. It is done for “its own sake”, for the quality of experience and involvement. Because you like it!
A related concept is that of social leisure, which involves leisurely activities in a social setting, such as extracurricular activities. For instance, sports, clubs. Another related concept is that of family leisure. Relationships with others is usually a major factor in both satisfaction and choice.

Well, mmm, I actually enjoy doing my things. Because of my father I really love playing the guitar, he taught me when I was a kid. I really like exotic food and I also like cooking. I always invite my friends and family to come over for dinner. I quite like surfing the net and playing video games. I’m more of an indoor kind of girl so I prefer to stay at home. I don’t really like camping and I don’t really like going to night clubs or to the movies with my friends. I really hate knitting and I don’t like board games. | You may say I’m an outdoor kind of guy because I really love camping and taking pictures. I always take pictures of animals and flowers, even though I don’t like gardening. I also love playing soccer especially if I’m playing with my friends. When I go out with my girlfriend I really like going to the movies but not to museums. I also quite like cooking although I’m probably not that good. I really don’t like building models or collecting things. |
